Dian Fossey

Dian's Career

 

Dian was an occupational therapist. She worked at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Then, she went on a once in a lifetime trip to Africa and met Dr. Louis Leakey. After returning home, she went to went to a conference where Dr. Leakey was speaking. He remembered her, and gave her an opportunity to study the gorillas. Dian said she was 35 years old and she was getting too old for it, and she did not have any experience because she was an occupational therapist. But he said that she was more mature and that the woman have been doing better than the men.
